Abstract
Given the vast number of emerging threats and new technologies in the news --seemingly on a regular basis, change seems to be the only constant in Aerospace and Defense (A&D). This chaotic environment leaves one wondering how the practice of Systems Engineering can or should respond to all of these dynamics, many involving a need for greater speed and agility in the systems themselves as well as the way they are delivered.
In this presentation, Bob will examine the changes which are occurring today and a sense of urgency they are inducing into the aerospace and defense industry. He will examine how today’s three objectives of our A&D customers in “innovation, speed, and affordability” are inspiring still more change into the ways that systems are imagined, developed, and realized. Views from various industry champions in INCOSE, NDIA, AIA, and others will be explored to help visualize what systems, systems engineering, and related practices may (or should) look like in the very near future.
Biography
Bob Scheurer is an Associate Technical Fellow in BDS Systems Engineering. He is a member of a team working to improve competitiveness and integration on programs and proposals across the company. Bob additionally represents Boeing in various professional venues of National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), INCOSE, and others. His involvement and leadership with these organizations long with various program engagements across Boeing affords him unique insights into customer and/or industry transformations either underway now or beginning soon.
