Abstract:
With the dawn of genetic sequencing and related technologies, we have seen a shift in modern medical thinking. In this talk, we will explore the use of genetics to trace a hypothetical patient’s symptom to its molecular root cause. The definitions of health, disease, and treatment will be examined from a systems perspective. Furthermore, links will be made to ancient medical practices that showed a similar integrative approach long before the rise of molecular biology.
