ABSTRACT: Systems Engineering while long established and used in the aerospace industry is starting to make headway in other industries who have come to see the significant advantages that this methodology brings to product development.

Many aspects of systems engineering were in the past somewhat academic and disconnected from the reality of product development. Better technology and new tools are starting to converge the theoretical methodology and the day to day engineering. For example the coveted companywide single version of the truth is now a tangible reality and traceability of all aspects of the development process during the entire product lifecycle just a click away.

In my presentation I want to give an overview of how the 3DEXPERIENCE platform can facilitate systems engineering in an organizational context unifying workflows and integrating existing, legacy and third party models and tools.

BIOGRAPHY: Christopher Alain Jones graduated from the University of Paderborn (Germany) in 2010 with an electronical engineering diploma, focused on the numerical simulation of electro-magnetic waves and waveguides. Following that he spent two years researching plasmonics waveguides at the University of Hagen (Germany). In 2013 he joined Modelon GmbH and started using MBSD and Modelica in different projects at various automotive OEMs in Europe. In 2015 the company was acquired by Dassault Systèmes and in the summer of 2016 he relocated to Los Angeles to support the systems engineering and Modelica efforts in the North American market.

WORKING GROUP PRESENTATION:  TBD

The facility is the third building from the corner of Aviation and El Segundo, just north of the discount bakery outlet. The facility has 4 gates, but only the southern-most gate is open. Identify yourself to the security guard as attending the INCOSE meeting. You can park where Security directs and enter through the lobby at the center of the building where the flag poles are. Knock on the first of the double doors, and someone will open the door for you. The handicap ramp is on the north side and can be reached by driving all the way around the back of the building. Inform the security guard if you plan to use that ramp.
