Welcome to the Midwest Gateway Chapter

Welcome to the Midwest Gateway Chapter of INCOSE. We are based in the St Louis region, from Rolla to the Metro East. The Midwest Gateway Chapter of INCOSE was founded in St. Louis in 1992. Over the years we've hosted the INCOSE Symposium and the Conference on Systems Engineering Research (CSER), and been the home chapter of national and regional INCOSE leaders.

Finger Lakes Chapter presents "An Introduction to Architecture" Tutorial by Rolf Siegers, INCOSE Architecture WG Co-chair

This tutorial will provide attendees with an overview of key elements of the architecture discipline. There will be two 2-hour sessions for a total of 4 hours. Topics covered will include:

  • Terminology/Definitions
  • Synergies across software, system, and enterprise architecture
  • Process: developing, documenting, assessing, and governing architectures
  • Architecture standards (e.g., 42010/20/30) and frameworks (DoDAF, TOGAF, UAF, etc.)
  • Role and skills of the architect
  • Architecture professional organizations
  • Architecture credentials (certifications and certificates)
  • Learning more about architecture

This chapter meeting will be virtual (zoom) only. Earn 4 PDUs!
There is no cost to attend for anyone, but pre-registration is required. To register, send an email to Teresa.Froncek@incose.net

INSTRUCTOR: Rolf Siegers is an Engineering Fellow and Raytheon Technologies (RTX) Certified Architect. He leads the RTX Mission Architecture Program and the RTX Technology Networks organization.
The Mission Architecture Program is a group of enterprise-wide initiatives to establish and evolve software, system, and enterprise architecture expertise across the company. Its scope includes architecture process, training and certification, governance, assessment, reference architectures, tools, and collaboration with government, industry, academia, and standards organizations.
The Technology Networks and their 100+ Technology Interest Groups span the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom. The organization includes over 45,000 employee memberships spanning systems engineering and architecture, information systems and computing, RF systems, electro-optical systems, mechanical, materials & structures, and manufacturing.
Rolf’s recognitions include: Recipient of the 2021 Linda M. Northrop Software Architecture Award (SEI, Carnegie Mellon University); inducted into the Enterprise Architecture Hall of Fame (FEAC Institute, Washington, DC); Architecture and Systems Engineering Professional Certificate (Massachusetts Institute of Technology); Software Architecture Professional Certificate (SEI, Carnegie Mellon University); Master-level Open Certified Architect (The Open Group).
Rolf attended Auburn University at Montgomery, Auburn University, and Huntingdon College. He holds degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics with Honors. He is a member of IEEE, INCOSE and the Association of Enterprise Architects. Rolf resides in Dallas, Texas with his wife and three children. He is an avid cyclist, finishing in the Top 10 and Top 5 of the 2020 and 2021 Dallas/Fort Worth Craft Brewery Distance Challenges, cycling 5,000 miles in 7 months.

The Midwest Gateway Chapter of INCOSE was founded in St. Louis in 1992. Over the years we've hosted the INCOSE Symposium and the Conference on Systems Engineering Research (CSER), and been the home chapter of national and regional INCOSE leaders. Many of our members are engaged in defense, biotech, connected devices, and academia. Most members are located in St. Louis and the surrounding area (from Missouri S&T in Rolla to Scott Air Force Base in the Metro East), but all are welcome to affiliate with us.
